Why Not Us?

A multi-disciplinary play examining gender inequality from a male and female perspective.

Emily and Liam are finishing their final year at university. As close friends with a clear idea of what they want from their relationships and careers, both try to work out where they fit in the world, often through comic conversations fuelled by debate.

However, as they move to the high pressured professional world to make their careers in journalism and advertising, both are faced with difficult challenges that cause them to question their careers and fracture their relationship. As they work through their insecurities, they also learn to accept and understand each other.

Informed by 9 months of research and development, the play bases itself on real life experiences and seeks to explore some of the most important issues facing young men and women living and working in London today.

‘Where the show pushes the envelope are the scenes that take conventional ideas and turns them on their heads…Why Not Us? encourages a dialogue on this issue’

****Breaking the Fourth Wall

‘Harvey and Murray have successfully created a show that exposes the contradiction in a society that is still profoundly sexist yet encourages men and women to be anyone they want to be’
